FAQ

FAQ

Straightforward answers about the restringing service, choosing a setup and arranging a drop-off.

Arranging a restring

How do I arrange a restring?

Message, call or use the contact form to tell me about your racket. We can discuss what you need and arrange a convenient drop-off in Crosby. There is no online booking system.

Where are you based?

Crosby Racket Stringing is based in Crosby, Liverpool. The full drop-off address and map are available on the Contact page. Please get in touch before visiting so we can agree a suitable time.

Which rackets do you restring?

I restring tennis, squash and racketball rackets. The individual sport pages show the strings currently available and the prices.

How long does a restring take?

Most rackets are completed within 24 to 48 hours where possible. Turnaround depends on current availability and may be longer if a particular string or replacement part needs to be ordered.

Strings and tension

What if I do not know which string or tension I need?

That is not a problem. I will ask about your racket, how often you play, your playing style and what you would like from the setup. We can then agree on a suitable string and tension.

Do I need to know my current string and tension?

No. It is useful information if you have it, particularly if you like the way your racket currently plays, but it is not essential. Your racket and existing strings can also provide helpful clues.

How often should I have my racket restrung?

There is no fixed timetable. A useful starting point is to restring each year about as many times as you play each week. Frequent competitors, heavy hitters and polyester users may benefit from restringing more often. The Stringing Advice page explains the signs to look for.

Can you order a string that is not listed?

Usually, yes. I keep a carefully selected range in stock, but additional strings can normally be ordered on request. I’ll confirm the price and expected turnaround with you before ordering.

Can I supply my own string?

Yes. I’m happy to restring your racket using your own string. Labour-only stringing is available, with prices shown on the relevant sport page.

Comfort, juniors and racket care

Can a different setup make my racket more comfortable?

A softer string and an appropriate tension can often make a racket more comfortable to play with. Persistent pain should always be assessed by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Do you restring junior rackets?

Yes. Junior setups should reflect the individual player rather than simply copying an adult setup. Recommendations take account of age, racket size, playing standard, swing speed and how often they play. As a junior grows stronger and their game develops, their string and tension can change with them.

Can you replace grommets and bumper guards?

Replacement grommets and bumper guards can be fitted where suitable parts are available. These jobs may take longer if the parts need to be ordered.
